Caleb Osborne Killed after Amtrak Hits Car near Cooks Lane

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FLORIDA (August 17, 2017) – 38 year old Caleb Osborne was identified as the man killed in a tragic accident on Cooks Lane on Thursday evening, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 7:00 pm at the railroad crossing on Cooks Lane, near Orange Avenue. 38 year old Caleb Osborne was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by 41 year old Richard Tillman. The pickup truck drove onto the railroad tracks and was struck by an Amtrak train.

Caleb Osborne was declared dead at the scene, and the driver of the car, Richard Tillman, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. It is unknown if the crossing arms were functioning normally, or if the pickup truck attempted to go around the crossing arms. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
