CASTAIC, CALIFORNIA (April 20, 2017) – A semi-truck was involved in a major accident on Interstate 15 on Wednesday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 3:30 pm on the northbound side of the 15 Freeway near Highway 138. A red Nissan sedan rear ended a semi-truck hauling two trailers, and became wedged between the back tire and the trailer. The semi truck then continued on down the highway, dragging the car for a few miles. Cellphone video taken by a witness at the scene shows the semi driving down the highway, seeming to be oblivious to the fact that a car was dragging beside him.
Several vehicles pulled in front of the semi truck and forced it to stop on the shoulder. The condition of those inside the red car is unknown at this time, however airbags deployed in the accident. The accident remains under open investigation, and it is unknown at this time why the semi driver did not notice the impact of the car, or that it was dragging for several miles.
