TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA (July 18, 2017) – 5-year-old Brennan Bereda was involved in a semi-truck collision on Interstate 70 near the 16 mile marker Tuesday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. A semi-truck, traveling westbound on interstate 70 later identified as 62-year-old Amritpal Singh, failed to yield at a construction zone and collided into a Honda Odyssey. The semi-truck then rear-ended another semi-truck, according to Indiana State Police officials.
5-year-old Brennan Bereda and 1-year-old Finley Bereda both died due to the collision. The driver of the Honda Odyssey, later identified as the 33-year-old mother of Brennan and Finley, was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital. A 3rd sibling who occupied the Odyssey was airlifted to Riley
Children’s Hospital in critical condition. One truck driver was also airlifted to the hospital for treatment. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and liability of the collision.
