The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Hoover Street and West 95th Street. A 64-year-old woman, identified as Brenda Joyce Scott, was heading southbound on Hoover Street in a silver Mercedes. As she progressed through the intersection with 95th Street, a silver Jeep Renegade blew through the stop sign at high speeds and slammed into Brenda Scott’s vehicle. The impact sent the Jeep spinning out and onto a sidewalk, while the Mercedes went through a fence and into a palm tree.
Emergency medical responders tragically declared Brenda Joyce Scott dead at the scene. The two females inside the Jeep immediately fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a shoe. Investigators are attempting to determine who was driving the car, and the investigation is ongoing at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Brenda Joyce Scott affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
