“Elderly Cyclist Died in Truck Crash”
TULARE, CALIFORNIA (February 13, 2017) – Bonifacio Magana-Quesada, 80, was hit and killed by a semi-truck accident early Monday morning, at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Lovers Lane, according to the Visalia Police Department. (map)
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. Magana-Quesada was riding his bike traveling eastbound on Houston Avenue, when 56-year-old Domingo Sustaita, driving a 2015 Peterbuilt semi-truck, traveling in the same direction, collided with Magana-Quesada, according to police officials. Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene, but sadly, Magana-Quesada was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators concluded that alcohol and/or drugs were not factors of the deadly collision, according to Sgt. Damon Maurice. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
