The accident happened on US Highway 26 about 125 miles southeast of Boise. A school bus carrying 39 students and two coaches was traveling to a track meet in Gooding when the driver, 67 year old Richard Mecham, overcorrected and swerved off the highway, rolling over several times.
Five students were airlifted to local hospitals, and seven more were taken to the hospital via ambulance or by private vehicle. The accident remains under investigation at this time, but initial reports indicate that the coaches were yelling to get the drivers attention before the bus flipped.
“Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver who caused the accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a car accident and personal injury law firm.
