HEMET, CALIFORNIA (May 8, 2017) – A man killed in an accident on Highway 74 on Monday has been identified as Bernardo Santana-Brito, according to a coroner’s release. (map)
The accident happened around 5:40 pm on the westbound side of Highway 74 near Doe Canyon Road. 52 year old Bernardo Santana-Brito was traveling west in a Toyota truck when he drifted onto the right shoulder and then overcorrected, veering into oncoming traffic and colliding head on with a Honda Pilot.
Bernardo Brito was ejected from the vehicle, and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda Pilot was injured in the accident and was airlifted from the scene to Riverside University Health System Medical Center. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
