The accident happened around 8:00 am. A black Pontiac Vibe somehow got stuck on the train tracks at the intersection of Brighton Street and Hittinger Street. Inside were a mother and three children.

The mother immediately got out of the car and began trying to get her children out of the car. The 58 year old woman was able to extract two of her children from the car and was getting her six year old from the car when it was struck by Train 408, which pushed the Pontiac Vibe into the woman, injuring her. The accident remains under investigation.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law, a California personal injury law firm.
