BARTOW: Robert Silva Injured in Small Plane Crash in Church Parking Lot

“Investigation Ongoing”

BARTOW, FLORIDA (June 11, 2017) – A pilot was injured after a small plane crashed near Tampa on Sunday, according to a local news source. (map)

Robert Silva, an experienced pilot, was either taking off or landing at the Bartow Airport when he began experiencing problems. The plane began to crash, and Robert Silva realized his plane was heading right for the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Robert was able to turn the plane at the last minute and crashed into a power pole, and then a parked car before stopping against a tree.

Robert Silva was badly injured, but luckily a few of the 300 people inside the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church at the time of the crash were medical professionals that were able to render emergency aid until authorities arrived. It is unknown at this time what went wrong with the plane and why it crashed, but the accident remains under investigation.

“We wish a swift recovery for Robert Silva. The NTSB investigates every aviation accident in the country.
