BLYTHE, CALIFORNIA (February 18, 2017) – Barbara Emard has been identified as the victim killed in a tragic accident on the 10 Freeway near Mesa Drive on February 13th, according to local news sources. (map)
The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of the 10 Freeway near Mesa Drive. 28-year-old Barbara Emard had pulled her 1998 Ford Expedition onto the right shoulder for an unknown reason. She then began to accelerate back into traffic lanes when the front tire of a passing 2006 Freightliner blew out, causing the semi-truck to swerve to the right and crash into the Expedition.
Barbara Emard was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and tragically succumbed to her injuries on February 18th. A 1-year-old girl in Barbara’s car was hospitalized with unknown injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 33-year-old Curtis Pendegraf, was also hospitalized with major injuries. The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
