The accident happened around 1:10 pm in the 600 block of Ramsey Street. A wire shortage allegedly caused a fire to break out in a home, which had 83 year old Silvina Guzman inside and Guzman’s granddaughter. Guzman’s granddaughter saw the smoke and tried to carry her grandmother out of the home, but was unable to do so.
Tragically, Silvina Guzman was killed in the fire. The accident remains under investigation at this time, but Guzman’s grandson Michael Sanchez has confirmed that the cause of the blaze was a wire shortage.
