“Fatal pedestrian accident”
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (January 30, 2017) – According to the California Highway Patrol, two pedestrians were struck by a car on Monday while crossing Highway 14, north of the North “Y”. (map)
The CHP reported that a Honda Civic crashed into the pedestrians around 7:00 p.m. as they were crossing on the east side of the highway to the west side.
The CHP stated that the pedestrian that was pronounced dead at the scene was only identified as a 79-year-old man. The other pedestrian was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries. No other information was immediately released.
“The conventional wisdom is that the pedestrian always has the right of way. This is not always the case and creates a dangerous situation. Many pedestrian deaths and injuries can be avoided by both drivers and pedestrians being alert and cautious,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
