BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (January 15, 2017) – According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a pedestrian was struck by an SUV on Friday night at the intersection of Union Avenue and Eureka Street. (map)
The BPD reported that a red Ford Explorer, driven by a Bakersfield woman, crashed into the pedestrian around 9:22 p.m. as the pedestrian was crossing the street in the 1600 block of Union Avenue.
The BPD states that the adult pedestrian was transported to a hospital with major injuries.
“The conventional wisdom is that the pedestrian always has the right of way. This is not always the case and creates a dangerous situation. Many pedestrian deaths and injuries can be avoided by both drivers and pedestrians being alert and cautious,” said pedestrian accident Attorney .
