BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (March 16, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on New Stine Road on Tuesday night, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:00 pm in the 3100 block of New Stine Road, between Wilson Road and Planz Road. A pedestrian identified only as a male, was crossing the street towards the eastbound side when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, but was tragically pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities in their ongoing investigation.
