BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (February 24, 2017) – A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Friday afternoon on State Route 99 near Olive Drive, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident happened around 1:40 pm on the southbound side of State Route 99 near Olive Drive. A pedestrian was struck by a white Dodge pickup in traffic lanes, and the impact sent the pedestrian onto the right hand shoulder.
The pedestrian, identified as Avery Dion Molle, was tragically confirmed to have been killed in the collision. The driver of the Dodge pickup remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Initial reports indicate the pedestrian may have been hit by several vehicles, and a Suzuki Tracker was seen on the right hand shoulder after the accident, but it is not known if they were involved, or a witness. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
