BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (March 1, 2017) – A hit and run driver was killed in a second accident on Interstate 5 on Wednesday evening , according to a local news source. (map)
The initial accident happened on Highway 99 near Herring Road and the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. A short time later, the driver of the pickup truck was careening down Interstate 5, when he veered off the road near the Laval Road off ramp and crashed into a guardrail and a steel pole.
The truck driver was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
