BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (March 7, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Ashe Road and McKee Road, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Ashe Road and McKee Road. A woman was jogging across McKeee Road in an unmarked crosswalk when she was struck by a truck.

The woman, identified as Sara Hernandez, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with local authorities in their ongoing investigation to determine cause and liability. Initial reports indicate alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors.
