BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (December 8, 2016) – According to the Kern County coroner’s office, 20-year-old Kyle Derek Brooks was killed on Thursday in a deadly pedestrian accident at the intersection of Ashe Road and North Half Moon. (map)
The Bakersfield Police Department determined that a Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Ashe Road when the vehicle crashed into Brooks around 7:00 p.m. Another vehicle hit Brooks a second time.
The BPD states that Brooks was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“The conventional wisdom is that the pedestrian always has the right of way. This is not always the case and creates a dangerous situation. Many pedestrian deaths and injuries can be avoided by both drivers and pedestrians being alert and cautious,” said said the attorneys from Lexton Law, a California personal injury law firm.
