BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (December 31, 2016) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday, at approximately 8:45 a.m., on 5 Freeway and Highway 99. (map)

The accident started when a tractor-trailer hit two vehicles, which caused at least 12 other crashes, involving more than 20 vehicles.

Many injures were reported, at least one person had major injures. California Highway Patrol stated that a 50-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman from Manteca were killed in the crash.
