Boy, 6, Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident at North Vernon Avenue

AZUSA, CA — A six-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck in the 700 block of North Vernon Avenue at about 7:45 p.m., according to Sgt. Robert J. Landeros.

The boy and his mom were attempting to cross North Vernon Avenue when the little boy was hit by the truck. The driver stopped to help the little boy after the crash, according to Sargeant Landeros.

The little boy is in critical condition but is expected to survive.  Firefighters were able to stabilize the boy and he was then airlifted to the hospital where he was treated for major injuries and head trauma, a fractured femur, as well as internal injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this collision. The accident remains under investigation.

“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said a California pedestrian accident and personal injury lawyer.
