The accident happened around 7:45 pm in the 700 block of North Vernon Avenue. A 6 year old boy and his mother were attempting to cross the street outside of a marked crosswalk when the boy was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the car remained at the scene and rendered aid to the small boy.

The boy was airlifted to a nearby hospital and was reportedly in critical condition. The accident investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability, but initial reports indicate that alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been factors.

“Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver who caused the accident,” said a California car accident and personal injury lawyer.
