“Deadly Pedestrian Accident”
VISTA, CALIFORNIA (March 10, 2017) – A pedestrian struck by a car and killed on Friday on Santa Fe Avenue has been identified as Awet Yosief Habtezghi, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:45 pm on Santa Fe Avenue near Montgomery Drive. 38 year old Awet Yosief Habtezghi was walking with a male companion when he attempted to cross South Santa Fe Avenue near Montgomery Drive in an unlit area. He was then struck by a 31 year old man in a 1996 SAAB.
Awet Habtezghi was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. His companion ran to a nearby business for help, then left the scene. The driver that struck Awet remained at the scene and is cooperating with local authorities as they determine cause and liability.
