2 High School Seniors Dead After Head-On Collision
AUBURN, CALIFORNIA (December 15, 2016) – Two Bear River High School seniors, identified as Jude Alexander Douden and Joseph Devon Rantz, died in a tragic collision on Highway 49 near Dry Creek Road when their vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a Ford F-350, reported The Union. (map)
The accident happened around 1:15 p.m. on Highway 49, near Dry Creek Road.
Despite the fact that both Jude Douden and Joseph Rantz were wearing seatbelts, one of the victims was ejected from the vehicle.
A preliminary investigation revealed the two students were driving southbound they lost control of their vehicle, crossed into the northbound lane and were then struck by a Ford F-350 truck.
The driver of the Ford truck was uninjured.
According to the California Highway Patrol, rainy weather appears to be a factor in the collision.
