One Man Died, Nathaniel Martinez Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash
ATWATER, CALIFORNIA (December 15, 2016) – The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal car accident on Santa Fe Drive near North Fox Road on Thursday, December 15, 2016. (map)
According to the Merced Sun Star, a 2000 Ford F-150 truck was heading east on Santa Fe Drive when it drifted onto the shoulder near Fox Road.
For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the truck, drove up an embankment and the vehicle overturned onto its side as it crossed the railroad tracks.
The driver, a 29-year-old Merced man, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old passenger, Nathaniel F. Martinez, of Atwater, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
