ATLANTA: Charlie Holt Killed in Accident at Sun Dial Rotating Restaurant

“Investigation Ongoing”

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (April 14, 2017) – A five year old boy was killed in a horrible accident at a rotating restaurant on Friday, according to a local news source. (map)

5 year old Charlie Holt was visiting the Sun Dial, a rotating restaurant located on top of the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. The little boy was accompanied by his parents, who were sitting at a window seat nearby and were reportedly visiting from North Carolina. Charlie reportedly wandered off, and he somehow became stuck between a table attached to the rotating floor, and a fixed wall.

The floor automatically shut off, but Charlie had already suffered serious head trauma. Charlie was rushed to a hospital, where he tragically died later that day.

This is not the first fatal accident for the hotel. 13 months ago, 61 year old Carolyn Robinson, a 35 year employee of the Westin, died after being locked inside a freezer that did not have appropriate escape measures in place. Less than a month after that, 10 year old Stephen Akinlabi was pronounced dead after he fell into a pool at the hotel. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the Westin $12,000 in the death of Carolyn Robinson.

The investigation into the tragic death of young Charlie Holt is still ongoing at this time. Several agencies are on site and working together in order to unravel the details surrounding the horrible accident.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Charlie Holt as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
