The accident happened around 3:45 pm on Los Berros Road near Stanton Street. A group of four motorcycles was traveling westbound on Los Berros, with the first and second motorcycles being ridden by 27 year old men from Santa Maria. The second motorcycle, a 2014 Kawasaki, accelerated for unknown reasons and slammed into the back of the front motorcycle.
The rider of the second motorcycle was tragically pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, and the driver of the first motorcycle’s condition is unknown. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
“Motorcyclists are entitled to all parts of the road, however they must still proceed with caution and stay in control while riding to avoid an accident,” said a Orange County motorcycle and car accident lawyer.
