Alex Danilo Cerna, 51, Arrested after Female Pedestrian is Killed in an Arcadia Hit-and-Run Collision
Alex Danilo Cerna, 51, was arrested after a 77-year-old female pedestrian was hit and killed last night in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Baldwin and Arcadia Avenues.
At around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the woman began crossing the street when a car that was going north on Balwin at Arcadia hit her. She was taken to the hospital where she later died from fatal injuries.
Witnesses were able to assist police in finding the hit-and-run driver, Alex Danilo Cerna. Cerna was arrested for felony hit-and-run as well as gross vehicular manslaughter. Investigators need further assistance to help them better understand how this accident happened.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law, a personal injury law firm.
