California Highway Patrol reported the accident at about 11:15 a.m., when a Nissan Maxima, being driven by 22-year-old Karina Winogradov of Redding, made a left turn onto Triple S Drive. The Toyota Tunda driving behind her, by 28-year-old David Passieux, in a possible attempt to avoid her vehicle, crossed over double yellow lines and broadsided the Nissan.
Winogradov became trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews. After she was freed, she was taken to Mercy Medical Center with a broken pelvis and ruptured spleen. The other drover was not hurt. Police are currently investigating the crash.
