Alondra Guadalupe Equivel, 37, Killed in Wrong Way Collision on Interstate 5 Freeway

“Wrong Way Fatality”

OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA (July 7, 2017) – 37-year-old Alondra Guadalupe Equivel was involved in a wrong way collision on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)

The collision was reported by another motorist through a 911 call describing one of the vehicles as a sedan at approximately 2:00 a.m. The initial report by authorities stated that a Toyota 4Runner was traveling north in the southbound lanes. Investigators later gained knowledge of 4Runners destination that it was possible the second vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was traveling in the wrong direction.

The Toyota 4runner was found lying on its side. Equivel was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Camry, later identified as 31-year-old Teec Nos Pos also died a the scene.

The road was closed until 5:00 a.m. for cleanup and wreckage removal.
