The tragic accident occurred a approximately 12:30 p.m. Miguel and Briseño were passengers in a Honda sedan along with mother Maria Briseño and grandmother Maria Rodriguez. The Honda was traveling eastbound on the I-10 when it pulled over to the shoulder due to overheating. A driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup, identified as 60-year-old Jose Prieto, pulled over to assist the group in the vehicle.

Rodriguez and Prieto were outside the vehicle when the driver of a Nissan Frontier, identified as Luis Sanchez veered onto the shoulder and struck Rodriguez and Prieto. The collision caused the rear portion of the Honda to cave in to the front seat. The crash also pushed the Toyota across the freeway, according to CHP Officer Jesus Garcia.

Miguel, Isaac Briseño, Rodriguez and Prieto were killed in the collision.

Maria Briseño, the mother of the two children as well as the driver of the Honda, was not injured. However, she was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center due to her hysterical condition that could possibly bring on a heart attack.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
