“Columbus Ohio State Fair Accident”
COLUMBUS, OHIO (July 26, 2017) – Abdihakim Hussein, a 19 year old from Columbus, was identified as one of those injured in an accident at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:30 pm when a pendulum style ride known as the “Fire Ball” malfunctioned, sending several people flying over 40 feet. A chair arm also dislocated from the machine and plummeted to the ground with people still strapped into it.
Abdihakim Hussein was among the 7 people injured in the accident. An 18 year old boy was tragically killed as well. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability, and the ride has been shut down.
