The accident happened at the Pizza Port restaurant off Carlsbad Village Drive. A 4 year old little girl named Lacey Burke was at the restaurant with her parents when another patron nearby approached them and asked if Lacey wanted to pet their dog. The dog’s owner then walked off, while Lacey petted the dog, which is described as a Collie-Shepherd mix. The dog unexpectedly snapped at Lacey’s face, leaving her with major injuries.
Lacey was rushed to the hospital and required surgery. She is in stable condition, but may require reconstructive surgery at a later time. The incident is under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
