3 year old Dayveonna Polk was crossing the road at the intersection of R Street and 18th Street on Monday evening. She was inside of a crosswalk with members of her family only a few feet away, as a car waited at the red light nearby. The car, a late 90’s model purple Honda Accord, sped through the intersection in a left turn the moment the light turned green. The driver struck Dayveonna, then continued on as if nothing had happened.
Dayveonna was tragically killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Dayveonna’s mother, Shawan Bradford, released a statement saying she wanted the driver of the car to come forward. Dayveonna was her oldest daughter, and Shawan was just a few feet away when the accident happened.
Police have multiple videos of the accident happening, and are on the hunt for the hit and run driver. The accident remains under open investigation, and Lexton Law is still receiving new information regarding this accident.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
